About Doug Kent

Born and raised Massachusetts artist, Doug Kent, has lived and worked on Martha’s Vineyard for more than thirty years. His work has been exhibited in New York, San Francisco, and Tokyo, and hangs in collections as far afield as Australia. His eminent career began in 1967 upon his graduation from the School of the Worcester Art Museum, Worcester, MA.

Doug’s commitment is to the process of painting. He describes the subject as being secondary to the application of the paint and says: “The subject is a vehicle to be transformed in the act of painting”.

With a career spanning three decades Doug Kent's paintings are masterfully executed and utterly compelling pieces.
